Ashbee blow rocks Tigers
07 May 2009 - 16:06:40
Hull City skipper Ian Ashbee is set to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury sustained in the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
The 32-year-old schemer lasted just nine minutes of the loss at Villa Park on Monday evening and scans have revealed a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament.
Tigers boss Phil Brown told the club's official website: "Ian is going to be out for a number of weeks with the injury.
"However, further investigation is still required. We can't actually go in to have a look because of the wound that is on his knee at the moment.
"But the results of the scan say that he has got a ruptured PCL. We'll have further information when we can put a scope in there and find out a little bit more.
"We won't be able to do that for another seven days."
Ashbee has been with City since the summer of 2002, making almost 250 appearances in all competitions to help the club rise to the top-flight for the first time in their history.
