Dean Windass has agreed to become No.2 to Darlington manager Colin Todd in a player-coaching role.[LNB] Todd made the veteran Hull City striker his leading target after being appointed by the North East club last month and it appears he has now landed his man.[LNB]Windass scored the winning goal in last summer's play-off final victory which took the Tigers in to the Premier League but fell out with manager Phil Brown and ended his Hull career in the reserves after a stint on loan with Oldham.[LNB]League One Gillingham were keen to secure the former Aberdeen, Oxford, Bradford and Middlesbrough forward this summer, but could only offer a playing position and not the coaching role he craved.[LNB]Windass applied for the managerial vacancies at Aberdeen and Chesterfield, while three Australian A-League clubs expressed an interest.[LNB]The 40-year-old is still to put pen to paper with the Quakers and the move will also have to be ratified by the club's administrators.[LNB]
