Windass to return to Tigers

Dean Windass looks set to cut short a loan spell at Oldham and head back to Hull City. The veteran striker has spent just two months with the Latics and was due to remain until the end of the season, but has grown frustrated at a lack of first team action. John Sheridan's departure from Boundary Park on Sunday proved to be the final straw for the 39-year-old and he has been given permission to return to his parent club by Oldham's incoming boss Joe Royle. Regulations will prevent Windass from turning out for the Tigers in the Premier League, but a coaching role at KC Stadium has been touted. Hull's assistant manager Brian Horton said: "Deano has gone there, it hasn't worked out. "At the moment it's being worked out between Phil (Brown) and the manager (Royle) where he can go. "We'll have to see what he can do. Can he come back? Can't he come back? "There are stories in the paper that he could be coaching but nothing has been resolved at the moment. "He can't play in the Premier League. We are trying to find out if he can come back and play in the reserves."
