Windass - It wasn't me

Dean Windass has moved to distance himself from reports which have suggested he was involved in an ill-behaved night out that is threatening to derail Oldham Athletic's bid for promotion. The club are launching a formal investigation into widespread reports of ill-discipline at Belle Vue Dogs on 3rd March, with chief executive Alan Hardy having confirmed 'we cannot discount sackings'. It has been alleged Latics boss John Sheridan skirmished with striker Lee Hughes, while an altercation between Sean Gregan and Chris Taylor also reportedly took place. Windass, though, insists he was at home with his wife during the club night out and is eager to silence any reports of his involvement. "I am disappointed that my name has been linked with the incident as I eventually want to go into management and these sort of stories will make chairmen think again about employing me," he told the Hull Daily Mail. Windass' loan spell at Boundary Park has not been without incident though, as the veteran striker has been outspoken about being dropped on more than one occasion by Sheridan. However, after clear the air talks between the pair the 40-year-old front man insists he is ready to fight for his place.
