Turner admits Tigers torment
New Sunderland defender Michael Turner admits making his debut against former club Hull City was the most nerve-wracking moment of his career.
The centre-back joined the Black Cats from Hull as the summer transfer window closed, and he made his bow for his new club in a 4-1 win over his ex-employers on Saturday.
Turner confesses that playing against the Tigers in his first outing for Sunderland was not a preferred scenario, but he is also focusing on a successful career at the Stadium of Light.
He said: "To be honest, playing against Hull on my debut was not very nice.
"I had been thinking about it a lot and I was more nervous than I have ever been for any game.
"So while it is a massive win both for me and the club, there are mixed emotions.
"Hull will always have a place in my heart and I owe people there a lot but I have moved on and I'm a Sunderland player now and hopefully my career will keep moving forward.
"I definitely feel this club is going places and I want to be a
part of it."
Turner also has a claim to Sunderland's fourth goal after heading towards the net before the ball struck former team-mate Kamil Zayatte and went past Boaz Myhill.
"I definitely got a touch and whether it then hit Kamil, I don't know but I sent it towards goal and I will be trying to claim it," he said.
