Hull are hoping to complete the signing of Sunderland defender Paul McShane on Wednesday morning.[LNB] The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international has completed a medical with the Tigers after both clubs agreed a fee. Now only the final touches are needed to complete a deal to re-sign a player who spent four months on loan at the KC Stadium last season.[LNB] Manager Phil Brown said: "Fingers crossed - we are nearly there but we are not there. I'm hoping that it is all done and dusted by 10 o'clock on Wednesday morning."[LNB] McShane made 17 appearances for the Tigers last term before being recalled by the Black Cats in January.[LNB] Brown added: "I think he is well known and well liked - the heart-on-the-sleeve, never-say-die attitude whether he is wearing a Hull, Sunderland or Ireland shirt.[LNB] "He can only be an asset because of what he did in the first few months of last season. He then watched from afar his team-mates struggling to survive in the Premier League but now we have, I think that is one of the reasons why he wanted to come back."[LNB] McShane made only three first-team appearances after returning to Sunderland and now does not appear to feature in the first-team plans of new manager Steve Bruce.[LNB] He is currently out of action with a knee injury but has been pencilled in for a possible Hull debut against old club Sunderland on September 12.[LNB] The versatile McShane will fill a void at right-back created by the departure of Sam Ricketts this summer.[LNB] Because of the impending deal, Brown has now ended his interest in Bosnian right-back Sanel Jahic, who was due to play for the reserves tomorrow.
