Hull City have decided against offering a contract to free agent Jerome Thomas following a recent trial.
The former Charlton and Portsmouth winger had featured in the Tigers' opening three games of their pre-season preparations.
However, Phil Brown has decided the winger does not fit into his plans for the 2009/10 campaign and has allowed him to leave.
"Jerome trained with us and we thanked him for his efforts," Brown told the club's official website.
"But we didn't feel that Jerome was going to improve what we've already got."
Meanwhile, Brown has also confirmed that Boaz Myhill is set to sit out the upcoming Barclays Asia Trophy with a thumb injury.
The Wales international keeper picked up the knock during a pre-season run-out at North Ferriby United and will not be travelling to China with the rest of the Tigers squad on Sunday.
"Boaz has injured his thumb and will not be travelling to Beijing," said Brown.
"Hopefully he'll be back in training on Monday or Tuesday when we return from China in time for the Aberdeen game (on Sunday 9th August)."
