Tigers breeze past Rangers

Hull City notched up their second win in two days with a comfortable 3-0 victory over non-league side Winterton Rangers on Sunday. The Tigers were perhaps suffering from fatigue after racking up a 6-0 thumping of North Ferriby on Saturday as they struggled to break down their lowly opponents. Following a string of fine saves from Rangers keeper Jamie Allan, Hull finally made the breakthrough on 43 minutes as youngster Tom Cairney smashed home from close range. Sadly for Allan, that was to be his last action as he was forced off with a suspected dislocated shoulder following this incident. It was not until after the hour mark when the away side doubled their lead as veteran midfielder George Boateng drilled a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area on 63 minutes. Trialist Jerome Thomas continued his good form following his half time introduction and it was from his shot in which Hull grabbed their third as Dean Marney netted a rebound past the helpless goalkeeper. The Tigers will now step up their pre-season preparations with scheduled friendlies against Football League duo Carlisle United and Sheffield Wednesday as their next opponents.
