Hull boss Phil Brown is confident new loan recruit Ibrahima Sonko is the right man to replace player of the year Michael Turner.
Sonko arrived on a season-long loan from Stoke on transfer deadline day and became the Tigers' seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old Senegal international has big shoes to fill after Turner joined Premier League rivals Sunderland.
But Brown believes Sonko can fill the void and told the Hull Daily Mail: "We were trying to look for quality to replace Michael and I think we've found it.
"It's a year-long loan with a view to a permanent so he could be hungry to prove a point to Stoke and to Tony Pulis to win a contract here.
"He's a player who's been on our radar for a number of years. I've sought a number of references for him and he's got a good strong character that I'm sure will help us."
