Sheff Weds v Hull reaction
Hull City boss Steve Bruce praised his injury-hit side after they ended a three-match losing run with a 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.
Aaron McLean's 77th-minute goal, two minutes after stepping off the bench, was enough to ensure that Hull claimed all three points.
Wednesday, meanwhile, thought that Miguel Llera's first-half header crossed the line and also had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down following Andy Dawson's challenge on Michail Antonio.
Stephen Quinn and Sone Aluko both went close for the visitors.
Bruce said: "I'm pleased because we defended the way we should defend and we managed to take our chance.
"Dawson's challenge (on Antonio) looked like a penalty from where I was but that was the only mistake we made all day, so that's pleasing.
"We had six missing today who were injured and we were only able to name six substitutes, but we still managed to come here and get a result.
"I've got the experience to handle it but you always need to stop losing runs.
"I'm pleased for Aaron (McLean). He's had to wait patiently - as has my German striker (Nick Proschwitz) - because Aluko and Jay Simpson have played very well. It helps when you've got somebody like him (McLean) sitting on the bench."
Wednesday manager Dave Jones felt his side were unlucky to suffer a seventh defeat in eight games.
Jones said: "It's not a game we felt we deserved to lose but you can't keep saying that.
"I think everybody is just frustrated. It either had 0-0 written all over it or we had a 1-0 steal ourselves.
"We created our own problem by switching off for the goal. We've got to stop conceding sloppy, lazy goals and that's what it all comes down.
"Probably for an hour we created a lot of good chances and it was maybe just that wrong decision or that little bit of quality that was missing.
"It's a bit frustrating for us but we've got to take hope from the performances and not the results sometimes."
Commenting on Llera's effort, which appeared to go over the line, Jones was in charitable mood.
"The referee can't give it and the linesman can't give it but we have the advantage of replays and the ball was over the line," he said.
"The referee said to me at half-time that he didn't see it so that's fair enough."
