Serious setback for Ashbee

Hull City have confirmed that club captain Ian Ashbee is set for a further nine months on the sidelines. The 32-year-old has suffered a setback in his recovery from a posterior cruciate ligament injury. The experienced midfielder picked up the problem in a Premier League fixture with Aston Villa in May. He was forced to sit out the majority of Hull's pre-season work this summer as a result and was not expected to be back in action until mid-September. However, those plans will now have to be revised with the news that he has suffered a major setback in his rehabilitation. Ashbee will be required to undergo further surgery in an effort to resolve the ongoing problem and he is set to fly out to America to go under the knife next week.
