Pearson: Tigers must lose drop hangover

Hull manager Nigel Pearson warned his side to forget the heartbreak of relegation last season after they were thrashed at Millwall.[LNB] The Tigers endured a miserable afternoon at The New Den as Kenny Jackett's side ran riot with two goals from Steve Morison and further strikes from Kevin Lisbie and Liam Trotter.[LNB]Pearson had no complaints about the result and urged his players to move on quickly from the disappointment of dropping out of the Premier League.[LNB]Pearson said: "I think I've got to just take that on the chin. There were some things today that were very frustrating but I'm not going to take anything away from Millwall. I thought hey were excellent.[LNB]"They played the way I knew they would and we didn't deal with them. Credit to them, it was an excellent performance. Kenny's got them playing and they're carrying on with the momentum from last season.[LNB]"At any level you need to deal with the threat of the opposition and we were found wanting defensively. I've seen all the goals and there's certain passages of play I'm very disappointed with but its something we'll put right.[LNB]"To give yourself a chance of getting anything out of any game then you need to do the basics right and we didn't. I'm a realist and I know there's a lot of work to be done here.[LNB]"If there's a hangover from last season then we need to get over that quickly and put it behind us. But the fashion of the defeat was the most disappointing thing for us."[LNB]Victory for Millwall put them top of the npower Championship and Jackett is optimistic about the future of the London club.[LNB]He said: "That was a really good performance and I'm really pleased with the start to the season, winning three games in the first week.[LNB]"It gives us optimism for the future and something to build on but I'm certainly very pleased with the players' efforts and application and its culminated in our first home game in five years at this level.[LNB]"When we saw the opening fixtures it's what we've worked hard to achieve, to be competing at this level. After that we're just looking to work hard for the first dozen games to get a foothold at this level. There's been no long-term goals but that's our aim at the moment.[LNB]"In your first home game you want to give the supporters some optimism for the future and I think we've done that. How we go on from here is another challenge but today was a good day for us and a well-deserved win."
