Pearson set to reward Cullen

Hull boss Nigel Pearson admits young striker Mark Cullen is pushing for a place in the side. The 18-year-old scored on his third senior start for the Tigers in the Carling Cup defeat to Brentford on Tuesday night. "Mark didn't start pre-season particularly well but he's taken his chances when they've come along," Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail. "It's important not to put too much emphasis on his role at the moment, bearing in mind he's only just come out of youth football. He's played very little reserve team football so it's a big step up. "But I'm a firm believer that if players are ready and players can deal with the situation then good for them and good for us. "He's done his chances no harm. We saw an impetuous side - that's understandable - but I'm very pleased with how he did."
