Hull manager Nigel Pearson is expected to return to work this week after spending the weekend in hospital. Pearson, 47, was admitted to hospital on Friday after experiencing chest pains, but fears over his health have been allayed following tests and he is expected back at work on Wednesday. Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare, who took charge of the first team for Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Doncaster, admitted the news had clearly affected the players. Shakespeare said: "The players were addressed on Saturday morning at the team hotel and put in the picture, so there were no secrets. We had to then concentrate on the game. "When something like that happens, I could see in their faces the shock, that's one of the reasons why we told them early to get focused on the game ahead. "From my point of view it was hard to be without him."
