Pearson: Players must believe

Hull manager Nigel Pearson believes the biggest component missing from his side so far in a disappointing season is self-belief. The Tigers rescued a point from a 1-1 draw at Barnsley on Saturday but have struggled to get to grips with the npower Championship under new boss Pearson following relegation. Pearson said: "The most frustrating thing is the way we, collectively, don't respond in the right way when things don't go our way. "In the second half (at Barnsley), the application, spirit and desire the players showed was admirable but we've got to be more pro-active and on the front foot a little bit more. "We've got to show the belief from the start of the game. We're better than where we are at the moment, I'm convinced about that, and although we had a few players missing on Saturday, I still think we should be good enough."
