Hull manager Nigel Pearson is impressed with how his players have adapted to his scientific approach to pre-season training. The former Leicester boss believes sports science plays a key role in the development and well-being of modern-day footballers. Pearson told the club's official website: "I think it's essential now because our prized assets are our players and we've got to give them the support they need to maximise their potential. "In pre-season it's very clear that we have to get the training levels right and that's not just the technical side, that's the physical loading as well. "It's probably a little bit different to what the players are used to, but the important thing of course is that they buy into it as well. It's not a case of us banging the drum and everything falling into place, it works if they have some ownership to it. "I'm pleased with their application in the first week. It's been outstanding really and it feels as though we've been here a long time already and I think that's a good sign. We're all enjoying it and the new staff have complimented the existing staff very well. I'm delighted so far."
