Pearson: Bullard must get his head down

Hull's head of football operations Adam Pearson has called on Jimmy Bullard to knuckle down ahead of the new season.[LNB] The 31-year-old midfielder was due to move to Celtic on a season-long loan deal but the switch to Parkhead collapsed, reportedly because of the player's financial demands.[LNB]Bullard, who moved to the KC Stadium for £5million in January last year, returned to pre-season training with the Tigers on Monday but is behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness.[LNB]Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail: "The situation now is that Jimmy is back with us and he is part of the squad, and therefore he will be considered for selection come the start of the season.[LNB]"Jimmy has said that he wants to stay and now he has to get his head down in training and show he wants to be here.[LNB]"Whether Jimmy can play a part for us next season is down to him now.[LNB]"He is some way behind in terms of his pre-season as he was only with the squad one day last week and then went to Glasgow.[LNB]"But he is back here now and we have to all try and put what has happened over the Celtic deal behind us and move forward."[LNB]Reports have suggested Bullard's move north collapsed because he was asking for an extra £30,000 a week on top of his £45,000 Tigers' salary.[LNB]Pearson did not completely rule out the possibility of Celtic coming back in for the player, but believes Bullard priced himself out of the switch.[LNB]"Perhaps Celtic will speak to Jimmy again and try to get the deal back on," he added.[LNB]"We will see what happens in the next three to four weeks before the season starts.[LNB]"However, if we come to the start of the season and he is still here there seems little sense in paying somebody £45,000 a week to just sit in the stands."
