Newcastle striker Michael Owen is fit to face Hull City this weekend. The England international has been out for almost two months with an ankle injury but after more than a week of training, the Magpies captain is ready to lead the club's relegation fight from the front. Caretaker boss Chris Hughton said: 'Michael will be involved. He has had a good week-and-a-half training under his belt and the decision will be made on the team to start at Hull. 'The one thing about Michael us that he will get you goals and as club catain he is very popular round here and it will be a lift for everyone to have him invovled. 'The most important thing is his quality and that gerenally means goals. There is an aura round Michael for what he has done and his achievements in the game and it is certainly better to have him involved. 'This is a big game but I can see this being the case every weekend from now.' Hughton also confirmed Geordie striker Andy Carroll has signed a new contract and said: 'It is well deserved. He has fought his way through to the first-team squad and contributed well. 'The fact he is local lad is big for the supporters and it is quite a big statement for everyone here in terms of developing our own.'
