No regrets for Tigers boss Dowie
Iain Dowie insists he does not regret taking on the Hull City job and is confident of a positive response from his players.[LNB] Since being named as the Tigers' football management consultant last month, Dowie has won just one of his six Premier League games in charge.[LNB]He has overseen defeats by Portsmouth and Burnley, who are below Hull in the table, and is facing a battle to keep the club in the top flight.[LNB]Dowie was booed by supporters during the recent 4-1 home defeat by Burnley, but he expects a reaction from his squad for Saturday's visit of Sunderland.[LNB]"No, I don't regret taking the job," stated Dowie. "I thought the fans have been first class and they will always be entitled to their opinion.[LNB]"If we're winning the game then there's no issue. The vast majority of fans have been very supportive. They know we're working in difficult circumstances.[LNB]"As a manager coming in when you can't bring players in or change personnel, you have to look for a response.[LNB]"We're getting a reaction that's for sure, these players aren't folding, they're giving everything.[LNB]"We didn't have anyone booking when Kevin Kilbane scored the first goal against Burnley. With Paul McShane, what he's put up with in terms of losing his father, to have given the reaction he has is terrific. He gives his heart every week, the boy.[LNB]"Those two lads give everything to the team. They care about the football club and they look to get the very best out of themselves.[LNB]"Kevin will be experienced enough to deal with it, he's played over 100 games for his country. I just think it's a bit unnecessary with where we are.[LNB]"Of course there is going to be a bit of edginess, people come and have their opinion. I can't let that affect or faze me. I see this game as the day this club puts itself back in the shake-up."
