Michael Turner focused on helping Sunderland claim victory over Hull City

Turner blossomed into a Premier League player during his three years at the KC Stadium, and there has now even been talk he might win a place in the England team, but he will not allow emotion to undermine his efforts in east Yorkshire on Saturday. [LNB]"I haven't really spoken to anyone at Hull City about the mood in the camp but I'm sure they were disappointed with their result against Burnley the other week," Turner said. [LNB]"Things look tough for them at the moment but they have to pick themselves up and concentrate on staying up. They've still got everything to play for and that includes the game against us. [LNB]"I'd like them to stay up. I've got friends still there and I'd like to see them stay in the Premier League. I've moved on now, though, and all my focus is on Sunderland and getting us as far up the table as possible. [LNB]"It would be nice if we could get a few more points on the board in these last few games and we'll be looking to use the Hull game to push ourselves higher up the table." [LNB]Hull were pushed closer to the relegation trapdoor on Wednesday when they lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa and Turner and his colleagues will be doing their best to deepen the misery around the KC Stadium. [LNB]"To be honest, it would just be nice to finish the season well," Turner added. "We had a tough time of it in the middle of the season and that was disappointing after spending the first half of the season in the top half of the table. [LNB]"We had hoped to be higher at this stage but the good thing is that we've turned our form around in recent weeks and I've really enjoyed being part of a good run of games where we've scored goals, won games and defended well. [LNB]"It has really put a spring back in people's step and what we want to do now is finish the season strongly and go into the close season in a really positive frame of mind. [LNB]"We know it won't be easy with our last home game being Manchester United and the other two away from home, where we haven't done ourselves justice. [LNB]Turner, 26, joined Sunderland for a cut-price fee - believed to be in the region of £3.5 million - as the Wearside club took advantage of Hull's financial woes last summer. [LNB]"I don't see why I shouldn't get a good reception there," Turner added. [LNB]"I had three great years there and I had a good rapport with the fans. [LNB]"I'd like to think that I served them well and helped to take the club forward in my time there." [LNB]
