McShane set for Tigers switch

Sky Sports News understands that Sunderland defender Paul McShane is on course to join Premier League rivals Hull City. The Republic of Ireland international is undergoing a medical at the KC Stadium ahead of his proposed switch. Phil Brown's side are reported to have agreed a fee in the region of £2million to secure the services of McShane. The 23-year-old joined Hull on a season-long loan deal last season before being recalled in January by former Black Cats boss Ricky Sbragia. McShane suffered a knee injury in a pre-season friendly at Darlington in July which was initially expected to keep him out for three months after surgery. But Sunderland manager Steve Bruce revealed on 12th August that the defender was ahead of schedule and was closing in on a return to training. McShane is now expected to complete his switch to East Yorkshire provided he comes through the medical and agrees personal terms.
