McShane calls for basics

Paul McShane has urged Hull City to get back to basics defensively following their poor start to the season. The Tigers have conceded the most Premier League goals so far after shipping in six in last weekend's thrashing at Liverpool. McShane believes it is down to Phil Brown's defence to start keeping clean sheets with their last coming against Bolton on 22nd August. The Irishman insists Hull City have got to start scrapping and fighting for every point possible or they will find themselves up against it in their battle against the drop. Clean sheets"We've got to get clean sheets you know. If you don't concede goals then you don't lose games," he said on Sky Sports News. "We've got to get back to that clean sheet mentality. You've got to do everything you can to get it done. We've got to fight and scrap for everything now. "When you concede four and six your confidence does get a bit of a blow. We've got to stop conceding goals like that. We've got to cut out the mistakes and get back to basics."
