Mannone to beef up options

Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone will provide "healthy competition" at the KC Stadium after joining on loan until January, according to Hull manager Nigel Pearson. Mannone, 22, has found first-team opportunities hard to come by since arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Italian side Atalanta in 2005, but will now vie with Matt Duke and Mark Oxley for a place in Pearson's starting line-up. Pearson said: "Vito is a very, very good young goalkeeper who has found his opportunities limited at Arsenal. "I like to have competition, in all positions if possible, and Vito has some Premier League and Champions League experience. "There'll be some good competition there and it's a healthy position to be in."
