Kilbane tells Tigers to keep cool

Hull City winger Kevin Kilbane is confident the Tigers can stave off the threat of relegation if they keep their cool over the remaining weeks of the season.[LNB] Phil Brown's men suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kilbane's former club Wigan on Sunday as Ben Watson's clever late winner left them four points clear of the drop zone with eight games to go.[LNB]The Tigers have tumbled down the table after an impressive start to the season and are very much embroiled in the tight battle at the foot of the table.[LNB]Kilbane has urged his team-mates to focus on their own fixtures and avoid over-analysing the situation as the pressure begins to build.[LNB]He told the Hull Daily Mail: "It's about staying relaxed and not getting too carried away with things.[LNB]"I'm sure that we've got enough about us to do that.[LNB]"You do look at other fixtures and you do look at other results - it's only natural, but you have to keep your focus on your own game as much as you can and get a victory as soon as you can."[LNB]PositiveKilbane heads off on international duty with Republic of Ireland for their games against Bulgaria and Italy before domestic duties resume once again.[LNB]Portsmouth are the next visitors to the KC Stadium and Kilbane is keen for Hull to use the break from Premier League action to their advantage ahead of further games against fellow strugglers Middlesbrough and Sunderland.[LNB]He admitted: "Sometimes you want a game as soon as you can but sometimes it can be a good thing to take a step back.[LNB]"I'm sure the coaching staff will get everyone together over the next two weeks and we need to regroup now ahead of that massive game against Portsmouth.[LNB]"Of course, you can look at those three games coming up for us - and they're big - but you can only look at Portsmouth.[LNB]"It's a game we can win and we need to be confident and be positive. If we can do that, we can get the right result."[LNB]
