// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Hull City have signed former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.[LNB] The Dutchman has signed a two-year deal at the KC Stadium after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.[LNB]Vennegoor of Hesselink is able to join the Tigers outside the transfer window as he is a free agent after being released by Celtic earlier this summer.[LNB]Hull were keen to bolster their attack before the close of the transfer window, but saw a move for Marlon Harewood from Aston Villa fail to materialise.[LNB]Tigers chief Phil Brown has been chasing striking reinforcements all summer and he has finally bolstered his attack by luring Vennegoor of Hesselink to East Yorkshire.[LNB]Hull chairman Paul Duffen was delighted to land Vennegoor of Hesselink and claimed the club had beaten some big clubs to bring the striker to the KC Stadium.[LNB]"I'm delighted we have beaten off all the competition to bring him to the KC stadium," said Duffen.[LNB]"We've definitely wanted an experienced, top-drawer striker who scores goals and Jan has scored prolifically in top leagues in Europe.[LNB]"It's what we need. We didn't score enough goals last season. Going forward we have a lot of new talent and Jan will play his part in using his experience to settle them down.[LNB]"We've been looking at Jan since July and are really pleased we've turned his head.[LNB]"He's been looking at other big clubs in Europe but the Premier League is where he wants to come and play with us."[LNB]
