International duty boosts Myhill

oaz Myhill admits travelling away with Wales over the past week has helped ease the pain of Hull's relegation.[LNB] Myhill's club season came to an inglorious end as he lost his place in the Hull side during their doomed attempt to avoid finishing in the Barclays Premier League bottom three.[LNB]It was a big comedown for the 27-year-old goalkeeper, who two years ago was celebrating promotion to the top flight with the Tigers, but linking up with his international team-mates has restored some spirit.[LNB]Continuing his battle with Wolves' Wayne Hennessey for the Wales number one shirt, Myhill played the second half of last night's battling 2-0 friendly defeat in Croatia.[LNB]Myhill said: "Obviously the club season has finished now, but it was good to finish wearing a different shirt. Unfortunately we lost but it was good to join up.[LNB]"The season has barely finished. It didn't hit home after we got promoted until the fixtures came out, so we'll just get this summer out of the way, work hard and go back to Hull ready to start again."[LNB]Myhill was unwilling to comment on Hull's precarious financial position or the club's request to players to consider accepting a deferment of part of their wages this summer.[LNB]Hull have debts of £35million and are considering drastic measures to avoid going into administration, which could incur a 10-point penalty in the Coca-Cola Championship next season.[LNB]"I don't want to talk about that," Myhill said. "Nothing's been decided."[LNB]Myhill preferred to focus on his final match of the 2009-10 season, in which a severely weakened Wales side performed admirably in Osijek against the Euro 2008 quarter-finalists.[LNB]Tottenham's Luka Modric was in inspired form but Wales frustrated their hosts for large spells before ultimately going down to superb goals from Ivan Rakitic and Drago Gabric late in each half.[LNB]Myhill said: "It has been a couple of weeks since the end of the season and a lot of the boys haven't had a game for a while and I think that showed at stages.[LNB]"Ultimately we came up against a very tidy side so it is difficult to get too disappointed - but obviously we want to get better.[LNB]"We might have kept the ball a bit better in stages but when you come up against a player with the quality of Luka Modric, it is going to be difficult.[LNB]"Unfortunately we haven't managed to get the result we are after but there is no shame in getting beaten here by a very good Croatian team."[LNB]Wales were without a host of senior names after the withdrawal of eight men from the initial squad took the number of players unavailable to manager John Toshack for the fixture to 15.[LNB]Myhill insisted the mood in the camp had not been affected.[LNB]"It has been good, training has been enjoyable," said Myhill.[LNB]"It has been a chance to look at a few different players and I don't think anyone has done themselves a disservice really."[LNB]
