Bruce to mix up Hull side

Hull boss Steve Bruce is expected to continue his favoured policy of cup rotation when his side host Rochdale in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Among those hoping to see action are defenders Harry Maguire and Alex Bruce, the latter having returned to the bench at the weekend following a lay-off.

Sam Clucas, Isaac Hayden and Ryan Taylor will also hope to step up to the starting XI and there could be further chances for goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic and striker Greg Luer, who were handed chances in the previous round.

Mohamed Diame, who has been out since April with a knee problem, may be among the substitutes.

Striker Joe Bunney and defender Ollie Lancashire are likely to miss out for Rochdale due to injury.

Bunney sustained a knock in the first half of Dale's goalless draw at Chesterfield at the weekend, while Lancashire also hobbled off early at the Proact Stadium.

With no respite in the fixture list, boss Keith Hill admitted he may be forced to bring in a couple of fringe players at the KC Stadium.

"The fixture list is horrendous when you consider the Capital One Cup being played," Hill told Dale PlayerHD. "We find ourselves now in the depth of our energy sources and I might have to make one or two changes."

One player who should be available for Dale is defender Jim McNulty, whose head injury is not a major concern for Hill.
