Hull spirit is helping me gets over World Cup misery, insists Kilbane

Kevin Kilbane feels the renewed spirit in the Hull camp has helped him get over his World Cup heartache.[LNB]The Republic of Ireland international returned to the KC Stadium dejected last week after his team's hopes of securing a place in South Africa were ended in controversial circumstances by France.[LNB]Hull have also had their problems this season but mood in the Tigers camp has been transformed in recent weeks after encouraging results against Stoke and West Ham.[LNB] Down and out in Paris: Kevin Kilbane (left) leads the protests after Thierry Henry's handball last week [LNB]The four points from those two games have lifted Phil Brown's men to 16th in the Barclays Premier League and they will look to maintain the momentum when Everton visit tonight.[LNB]Kilbane only watched from the bench as they came back from 2-0 down in Saturday's 3-3 draw with the Hammers but he was still cheered by the performance.[LNB]The 32-year-old said: 'As soon as you come back and get on with it, it's forgotten about. Another game comes around very quickly and you've got to move on from it.[LNB]'Every day in training for the last couple of weeks there has been a real belief here we are going to get results.[LNB]'Sometimes people say the confidence is still there when it really isn't but at our club now, it really is high.[LNB]'Everyone is optimistic and looking forward to the games.'[LNB]The last two results have also eased some of the pressure on manager Phil Brown, whose position looked uncertain prior to the Stoke victory.[LNB] Back down to earth: Kevin Kilbane (right) is chasing Premier League points again [LNB]Kilbane added: 'Sometimes the players have got to accept the responsibility. We weren't playing well early in the season and sometimes the players have to stick their necks out for the manager.[LNB]'If you are not getting results you are always going to be under pressure but the last couple of results have eased talk of things that were going on a few weeks ago.[LNB]'People were right up against us and right up against the manager.'[LNB]Kilbane listened with interest on Monday as he heard about how his former Wiganteam-mates were taking responsibility for their 9-1 thrashing by Tottenham.[LNB]The embarrassed Latics squad have agreed to refund ticket money to supporters who travelled down to London to watch the drubbing.[LNB]Kilbane, who joined Hull from Wigan in January, said: 'There are few tight lads in that dressing room so they'll be gutted about having to pay out! [LNB]'I just texted Chris Kirkland, who actually played well.
