Hull set to miss out as Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo gets cold feet

Alvaro Negredo is stalling on a move to Hull City because he has serious doubts about leaving Real Madrid for East Yorkshire. The Spanish striker has told his employers he would prefer to join Real Zaragoza, but the La Liga team have failed to meet the £15million asking price. Tigers boss Phil Brown looked like he was close to welcoming the 23-year-old to the KC Stadium at the end of last week, but Negredo has refused to be rushed on his future.  Roma also wanted to take him on loan, but Madrid need to raise money and will only consider cash bids. However, the Spanish giants may be willing to accept less from Zaragoza if Negredo flatly refuses to join Hull. In either deal, Madrid would insist on a buy-back clause for Negredo as they see him as a potential long-term successor to Bernabeu legend Raul.
