Hull haverejected an improved £5million bid from Wolves for winger Stephen Hunt and insisted they did not expect their Barclays Premier League rivals to attempt a further approach. The Tigers have now turned down four bids from Wolves for the services of the Republic of Ireland international, who is seen as a potentially pivotal figure in the club's battle to remain in the top flight. "In response to further released speculation, the club have received a verbal offer of £5million for Stephen Hunt," read a statement on www.hullcityafc.net. "This has been completely rejected and we are not expecting any further bids." Reports have suggested the cash-strapped Tigers would have to transfer-list their entire squad in the hope of clearing debts of £9million. Yet while chairman Adam Pearson has spoken of the need to move out fringe players and slash the wage bill by £6million, there is a reluctance to part with the club's star names.
