The Premier League club confirmed the move with a 39-word statement that was delivered by KC Stadium officials just months after Duffen's sudden departure from Hull.[LNB]'Hull City Football Club has now issued legal proceedings against Paul Duffen in the High Court,' the statement said.[LNB]'This action has been being taken to protect the commercial best interests of the football club against the actions undertaken by Paul Duffen while in office at Hull City.' [LNB]Duffen formed part of a consortium that bought the club from chairman Adam Pearson in June 2007. He was at the helm as Hull reached the top tier of English football for the first time but left the Yorkshire club last October and owner Russell Bartlett restored Pearson to the chairman's office.[LNB]Earlier this month Pearson said there had 'not been enough care and attention done to the transfers and the deals' after announcing he was calling in auditors tackle the club's finances after their 2008 figures revealed a £16 million shortfall.[LNB]Neither Duffen nor anyone else at the club have been available for further comment when contacted by The Daily Telegraph.[LNB]
