Hull keeper Duke completes dramatic rise by signing new deal

Hull [LNB]goalkeeper Matt Duke - brought in as a shock replacement for Boaz Myhill last month - has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at the KC Stadium until 2011.[LNB]New deal: Hull keeper Matt Duke [LNB] [LNB]It completes a dramatic rise for Duke, who was signed from Conference side Burton Albion in 2004 for £20,000. Arsenal star Almunia catches the eye after taking his dog for a stroll[LNB][LNB]Duke made his Barclays Premier League debut at West Ham, as Myhill was axed amid claims he would go to Newcastle, and kept his place.[LNB]Since his diagnosis, Duke has helped the Everyman Testicular Cancer Campaign whose spokesman Martin Smith said: 'We would like to congratulate Matt Duke on his contract extension with Hull City.[LNB]'Not only has Duke been a star performer on the field, but off the field he has played a vital role in raising awareness of testicular cancer and Everyman, encouraging young men to be aware of their health."[LNB]'Since overcoming testicular cancer in January last year, Matt has also helped raise vital funds for cancer research at Europe's only dedicated male cancer research centre, the Everyman Centre.'[LNB]Everyman has a partnership with the FA and PFA to raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancer among football fans.
