Hull deny reports of Brown sacking

Hull City have denied press reports suggesting that manager Phil Brown has been sacked following a poor start to the new season.

The Tigers are deep in trouble near the foot of the Premier League, having won just twice in ten league games this season.

A short statement from the KC Stadium club read: "Contrary to media speculation the club can confirm that Phil Brown has not been sacked and remains the manager of Hull City Football Club."

Rumours of a parting of the ways prompted several bookmakers to suspend bets on Brown departing City.

Brown took charge of the Tigers in December 2006 and led them to promotion to the top-flight for the first time in their history in the 2008-09 season.

Last term they escaped relegation by a single point following a dramatic slump in form in the second half of the season.
