Brown has only been able to call on Bullard's services once since he became Hull's £5-million record signing last month and his latest worrying injury setback has cast doubt on whether or not he will play again this season.[LNB]"We won't know how long he will be out for until he has had the operation but hopefully it is just routine," Brown said on Tuesday night.[LNB]Bullard, 30, will undergo surgery at the hands of world-renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado today.[LNB]Bullard suffered a career-threatening cruciate knee ligament injury while playing for Fulham against Newcastle in September 2006 which ruled him out for nearly 18 months.[LNB]"Jimmy will be having an arthroscopy to deal with a tear in his cartilage," a Hull spokesman said. "The best man to perform this is the surgeon who dealt with his injury while he was playing for Fulham." He has played just 37 minutes for Hull since leaving Fulham, coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 defeat at West Ham three weeks ago.[LNB]Bullard rejected a new contract at Craven Cottage with boss Roy Hodgson insisting the club could not offer him the long-term deal he wanted.
