Hull City 5 Birmingham 2: match report

03 March 2013 09:40
Steve Bruce’s Hull responded to their horror show against Bolton with a rampant attacking display against his former club Birmingham City to move back into the automatic promotion places with a 5-2 victory. It led Lee Clark, the Birmingham manager, to describe Bruce as “the best manager outside the Premier League”. Bruce recently recruited forwards George Boyd and Gedo, who scored two apiece here, and those signings appear to have rectified Hull’s occasional lack of punch in the final third. “We all had nightmares about last week,” Bruce said about the 4-1 defeat at the Reebok. “The one thing you want is a response. Last week was a bit of a fluke. We got a response. If there’s been a better home debut than George Boyd’s then I haven’t seen it. He oozes ability.”
