Hodgson - Zamora hard to replace
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson believes Bobby Zamora will be hard to replace and says it is not guaranteed the striker will join Hull City.
The Tigers have had a £5million bid for Zamora accepted, with the 28-year-old due to hold talks over a move to the KC Stadium upon his return from Fulham's pre-season trip to Australia.
Hodgson confirmed Hull are keen on the former West Ham United forward, but is unsure of the exact situation due to having been on the opposite side of the world.
And Hodgson insists that, despite Zamora only scoring twice in 35 Premier League appearances last season, he will be tough to replace.
"I can confirm that Hull are interested in him and have made a bid, but I can't confirm that we're going to be prepared to let him go," said Hodgson.
"Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson have been excellent on the tour and if we lose him, he's going to be a hard man to replace that's for sure.
"(So) that will be something that will be discussed when I get back.
"Obviously it's not been easy. I've been in touch all the time with the people at home, with the chief executive, but with the time difference, it's not been as easy as it would be had I done the pre-season at home."
Meanwhile, Tigers chairman Paul Duffen says the deal for Zamora does not hinge on Fulham signing Peter Crouch from Portsmouth as a replacement.
Duffen told the Hull Daily Mail: "The bid for Bobby Zamora has been made by us and accepted by Fulham and is not dependant on anything.
"Bobby will not be returning from Australia until tomorrow, so we would expect to talk to him about personal terms over the weekend or early next week."
