Going Down?: Bolton Out Of The Woods

18 April 2010 11:29
Bolton Wanderers were the only team at the bottom to win on Saturday, although there are still three games to go in Premier League Week 35 that could make the table look a lot clearer. Bolton claimed a lucky win away to Stoke. Dave Kitson had put the home side in front early on, but with five minutes to go Bolton substitute Vladimir Weiss won a free kick with an unquestionable dive. Matt Taylor's free kick was deflected in, and he got his second - the winner - three minutes later. Stoke had earlier hit the post and twice shot over from point-blank range. The Trotters have climbed back above Wolves, who scored a blank for the fourth successive game. Fortunately for them, so did their hosts Fulham, so they picked up a point from their travels. Hull City were also involved in a 0-0 draw away from home. The value of that point will be more evident in weeks to come, according to caretaker boss Iain Dowie. Burnley were back to losing ways on the road, unable to follow on from their first away win last week in Hull. Sunderland coasted to a 2-0 victory with Fraizer Campbell scoring the first and setting up the second for Darren Bent. That takes City back above Burnley and effectively four points away from safety, being three behind West Ham with a much inferior goal difference and four off Wigan.
