Gills hold Windass talks

Gillingham are in talks with Dean Windass over a possible move to Priestfield. The veteran striker met with Gills boss Mark Stimson after been released by Hull City earlier in the week. Windass, 40, is also said to be considering a player-coach role with League Two side Darlington. Although not overly confident of securing Windass' signature, Stimson admits that being able to discuss a deal shows how far the newly-promoted club has come. We've come a long way"I have spoken to Dean, but I don't think it's going to happen if I'm honest," Stimson told Kent on Sunday. "This time last year Dean Windass scored the winning goal to get Hull into the Premier League while we were getting relegated to League Two. "I think credit has got to go to the club that we can get on the phone and talk to these people now - and they are interested in talking to us. "All across the board we are looking to improve next season and people of that calibre will help us do that."
