Folan keen on Tigers stay

Caleb Folan is eager to remain part of Hull City's plans despite Phil Brown's moves to strengthen his forward options. The Tigers boss has made no secret of his desire for attacking reinforcements after struggling for goals and narrowly avoiding the drop last season. Folan, who only signed a new four-year contract last summer, found the net just once last season - in the opening day victory at home to Fulham. The former Wigan forward has held talks with Brown and believes he still has a part to play with the East Yorkshire outfit. "The manager was always going to strengthen his attacking options but I'll be working hard in pre-season to put myself in his plans" Folan told the Hull Daily Mail. "I'm very happy here, I've got another three years left on my contract and I still enjoy it. "The response in pre-season has been positive from all the coaches and there still seems quite a bit of belief in me. "I met with the manager and it was a positive get-together, but football can be a funny game so you never know." Folan admitted last season was a disappointment after he struggled with injuries and poor form and he has pledged to work hard to avoid a repeat. He added: "Obviously I didn't feature as much as I wanted to last year and I don't want another season like last year. "I want to crack on this time around and show what I'm really about and do the best I can. "I had several conversations with the manager throughout the season but all I can do is to keep trying to let them know I'm still here. "It's up to me to show I'm as good as anyone at the club."
