Hull City chairman Paul Duffen believes the January transfer window is an 'artificial market place'.[LNB] There have been calls for the window to be scrapped after another frantic month of activity in the Premier League.[LNB]Duffen believes there are problems with the window in its current format and has called for the issue to be reviewed.[LNB]"I think the January transfer window is an artificial market place and because of that I don't think it serves anybody at all," Duffen told Sky Sports News.[LNB]"I think it is a very bad thing.[LNB]"There is a growing support now that the whole issue of the January transfer window has to be looked at again."[LNB]InflatedDuffen also rejected the suggestion that smaller clubs could take advantage of the winter window by asking for more money for their players. [LNB]He explained: "A lot of transactions do happen at inflated prices in January but I'm not sure that does legislate in favour of the smaller clubs.[LNB]"Very often the smaller clubs want to hold onto their prized assets to ensure they retain their Premier League lives.[LNB]"Smaller clubs unfortunately tend to be buyers in that market because they are trying to do something to improve their fortunes."[LNB]Premier League stakeholders are set to discuss their views on the January window at a meeting this week and Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has insisted that at least 14 of the 20 clubs will want change.[LNB]Duffen said: "I am sure Dave's right. I can't think of one club that wants to sustain the status quo."[LNB]
