Daily Mirror Apologises for Phil Brown Haiti Story

The Daily Mirror newspaper has retracted the story which falsely stated that Hull City manager Phil Brown banned his players from attending a charity fundraiser for Haiti. The "exclusive" claimed that "Phil Brown risks wrath of Hull squad by banning them from Haiti fundraiser", and that only Jozy Altidore was allowed to attend after "begging." The piece of sensationalism was printed on Monday, and first appeared on the Mirror's football website on Sunday evening. It has now been removed and replaced with an apology. It states: "We are happy to make it clear that Mr Brown did not instruct his players to stay away, and is a big supporter of charity fund-raising. "Hull players were not prevented from attending and it was always the intention that Jozy Altidore would represent the club."
