ew Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has revealed that he was approached by Hull City before his appointment at Fratton Park.[LNB] The former Notts County chief was unveiled as successor to Avram Grant at Portsmouth earlier on Friday, having agreed a deal earlier in the week.[LNB]An announcement was delayed until after Portsmouth's creditors voted in favour of a Company Voluntary Arrangement on Thursday.[LNB]Cotterill has admitted that he was approached by Hull prior to the official announcement on the South Coast, but he would have snubbed the Tigers even if they offered financial incentives.[LNB]He said: "I've been very lucky. There's been lots for me to contemplate. I think we need to be open and honest - I wasn't interviewed for the Hull job.[LNB]"I received a text from Adam Pearson at Hull, who I know, and he was very polite and professional in his approach.[LNB]"He didn't ask to speak to me but he asked how far down the road I was with Pompey. We spoke later and it was to say that I was already committed to Pompey.[LNB]"No matter what was going to happen - even if my wages were to double at Hull - I said I was committed to Pompey."[LNB]Hull are looking for a new boss after Iain Dowie's short-term spell as a replacement to Phil Brown, who was placed on gardening leave in March before his departure was confirmed earlier in June, ended with the club's relegation from the Premier League.[LNB]Skysports.com understands Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is a candidate, but the Cherries are not thought to be prepared to allow the 32-year-old to leave.
