Burnley 2 Hull City 0: match report

Two goals from Graham Alexander has left the future of Hull City manager, Phil Brown, increasingly insecure. [LNB]Defeat against Burnley at Turf Moor also saw the desperate Humbersiders denied an equalising goal shortly after which they were reduced to 10 men when Deiberson Geovanni, whose attempt was ruled out, was dismissed for a second yellow card. [LNB]Burnley v Everton previewGiovanni's first yellow card came when he disputed the disallowing of his free-kick, the second for a foul on Burnley striker Steven Fletcher. Now the feeling is that the beleaguered Brown, Hull's most successful manager after taking them to the top flight of English football for the first time, could be dismissed in the next 24 hours. [LNB]Just 12 months ago, Hull were third in the Premier League; today they are anchored in the bottom three with crippling debts of 27 million and a wage bill of 40 million. [LNB]Adam Pearson, the former owner who returned to the club only this week following the departure of chairman and chief executive Paul Duffen - Brown's chief ally - will be considering the manager's future this weekend. Hull's desperation was evident from the outset although they delivered the game's first serious attempt after 15 minutes, Seyi Olofinjana delivering a low attempt that was to prove the visitors' only serious effort of a home dominated opening period. [LNB]Burnley, however, were perhaps fortunate when handed a 19th minute penalty. Stephen Hunt appearing to make only marginal contact on Tyrone Mears. Alexander, who had originally set up Mears, delivered from 12 yards on his 100th Burnley appearance. Burnley's domination increased as Robbie Blake twice threatened ominously and Chris Eagles followed up with an angled drive that was turned behind by Matt Duke, the Hull goalkeeper who followed up by blocking a Wade Elliott shot. [LNB]Hull improved marginally after the break and they thought they had clinched a 67 minute equaliser when Geovanni's free-kick was palmed into the net off the cross bar by Jensen. But the referee had spotted a push by Jozy Altidore who was cautioned as well as Geovanni for arguing. [LNB]Geovanni was then dismissed for his foul on Fletcher and Hull's fate was sealed when Alexander, set up by substitute Kevin McDonald rifled in the second in the 77th minute. [LNB]
