Jimmy Bullard will make his Hull comeback on Tuesday night after 251 days on the sidelines.
The Tigers' £5million record signing has managed just 37 minutes for the club since signing in January after damaging his knee ligaments.
But the former Fulham man will turn out for City's reserve side against Bolton on Tuesday night, and club captain Ian Ashbee is backing him to inject some life into his side's season.
"Jimmy will make us tick, no question about that," Ashbee told the Hull Daily Mail.
"When you've got a player of his ability back in the team, he can only be a good addition."
