Bullard: I'm doing the best I can

Jimmy Bullard insists he is doing all he can to help Hull City preserve their Premier League status - and has urged the Tigers to 'dig deep'.[LNB] Time is running out for the Tigers, as they continue to occupy a standing inside the relegation zone with four games of the season remaining.[LNB]Iain Dowie's side currently sit three points adrift of safety, but did put in a battling display at Birmingham on Saturday in order to earn a 0-0 draw.[LNB]If they are to ultimately steer clear of trouble, though, they will need to get the best out of key personnel.[LNB]Record signing Bullard fits into that category, with the midfielder having recently returned to action after a long-term knee injury.[LNB]Some supporters have been critical of the £5million man over recent weeks, as he has struggled to hit the heights he achieved before being laid low.[LNB]But the 31-year-old claims he is giving his all and will continue to do so in the club's remaining fixtures.[LNB]"Everyone is entitled to their opinion but sometimes it goes like that, it is hard to win player of the month every month," Bullard told the Hull Daily Mail.[LNB]"I am out there to do the best I can and sometimes it is enough and sometimes it isn't.[LNB]"One week you are up in the clouds and the next week you are down. You make what you can of it but I never get too down about it.[LNB]"When the whistle is blown I'm just out there being me, there's no money in my head."[LNB]Bullard is adamant that everyone connected with the Hull City cause is doing their utmost to beat the drop at the moment, but accepts that sometimes things do not play out as planned.[LNB]"It is not easy when you are down the bottom of the league," he added. "It is just about digging in and doing the best you can.[LNB]"Sometimes the ball doesn't run for you and it looks like you are not trying but we have an honest bunch of boys here and we try every week."
