Brown's Hull return still possible

Phil Brown has refused to quash speculation he could resume his role as Hull manager at the end of the season.[LNB] Brown was placed on gardening leave by the club in March with the Tigers battling relegation from the Premier League.[LNB]Iain Dowie was drafted in to preside over the final nine games of the campaign but his arrival failed to spark a recovery, with the former Crystal Palace boss managing just one win in eight prior to Sunday's encounter with Liverpool.[LNB]Hull's relegation from the Premier League was confirmed with a 2-2 draw at Wigan last weekend, and it is uncertain who will guide the club next term with Dowie's deal running only until the end of the season.[LNB]Hull's precarious financial position means Brown is still effectively the club's manager as chairman Adam Pearson has yet to pay off the remainder of his contract.[LNB]Brown is set to hold talks with Pearson and club owner Russell Bartlett on Wednesday, at which the 50-year-old hopes his contractual situation will be resolved.[LNB]Pearson has previously indicated Brown could yet return to his former role, and Brown admitted that outcome remained a remote possibility.[LNB]Asked whether he would return to the club if offered the chance, Brown told Sky Sports: "I can't answer that until I've had a conversation with the people that matter.[LNB]"I just want it to be honourable. If it's closure, then give me what I'm due and appreciate what I've done for the club in the last three-and-a-half years.[LNB]"I've never heard of it before [a manager returning after being removed] but nothing in football surprises me. Let's see what they've got to say.[LNB]"I've got to make sure that I go into this meeting fresh and the ultimate goal for me is, where does my career go?"[LNB]Hull picked up just five points from Dowie's first eight games in charge and Brown revealed that return was well below the targets he had set for the Tigers' run-in.[LNB]"With 24 points with nine games to go, I was still looking at 12 points, I was still looking at four wins in the last nine games," Brown said.[LNB]"There was probably more than four winnable matches.[LNB]"I'm not going to disrespect Iain Dowie - he's won one against Fulham and drawn two so he's got five points - but I'd earmarked two or three other fixtures that could have accumulated maybe 15 points."[LNB]Brown also revealed that he was left disappointed by criticism levelled at him by Tigers midfielder George Boateng following the club's relegation.[LNB]Boateng hit out a Brown's management style after the 1-0 loss to Sunderland which effectively ensured they would be playing in the Coca-Cola Championship next season, and pointed to Brown's on-pitch team talk at Eastlands in December 2008 as the moment the manager lost the dressing room.[LNB]"It was very disappointing," Brown said of the comments.[LNB]"I had a good working relationship with George but why he did what he did, you can only ask him that.[LNB]"George has an agenda, what that agenda is I don't know."
