Brown to be patient with Bullard

Hull boss Phil Brown insists he will not rush record signing Jimmy Bullard back despite the club's precarious situation. The Tigers are 19th in the Barclays Premier League after seven games and pressure is mounting on Brown having won just twice in the competition in 2009. The imminent return of Bullard offers cause for optimism but Brown admits he needs to be patient with the former Wigan and Fulham midfielder. Bullard has played just 37 minutes for Hull since signing in January due to a knee injury that required major surgery. Brown said: "Jimmy has been in full contact and we're very close to throwing him in but I don't want to destroy what we have done over the last seven or eight months. When he is ready, he is ready - and hopefully that will be for a long time." Saturday's game against Wigan is likely to come too soon for a first-team return but the trip to his other old club, Fulham, on October 19 is more realistic.
