Brown stays positive
Phil Brown is keeping positive after Hull City were held to a goalless stalemate with Portsmouth to stay in the drop zone.
The Tigers offered little threat at the KC stadium, with Pompey enjoying the best chances of the game.
Brown's side were not helped by the absence of record signing Jimmy Bullard, who was unable to make his debut after suffering an injury to his shin in a reserves game in midweek.
But the Hull boss is remaining positive about the task ahead as he seeks to secure the Tigers' top-flight status for another season at least.
He told Sky Sports afterwards that neither keeper had much to do in the game.
"It was a game where there was an awful lot of effort and energy and determination from both sides but not an awful lot of quality in front of goal unfortunately but that's what playing in the bottom three does to you," he said.

He added: "You have to stay positive, of course you do. The advent of Anthony Gardner going back into the fray, no coincidence that we got the clean sheet.
"Tony's had his problems all his career to be fair as it's been a building block process with regards to Tony but he came into the back-four today and responded alongside a new partnership with Kamil Zayatte."
Asked if he is worried that his side are not scoring goals, he replied: "Two games (without a goal) you're bound to bring that point up.
"I would be worried on Monday night with our performance with the ball, it was a little bit better today.
"We can still improve."
Bullard news
Bullard had been expected to start after he made his first appearance in nine months as a substitute in Monday's loss at Fulham and then had another run-out in the reserves the following night.
But Brown decided not to play the £5million signing after the playmaker picked up an injury in the reserves.
"He's very close (to being involved with the first team again), he went into a tackle with a young lad on Tuesday, he's got a nasty gash on his shin and it was causing him problems in his own head, meaning he hadn't full concentration on the game.
"Consequently we decided not to start him in what would have been a big game for him, you know it's his home debut and it's a big comeback game for him.
"But the added stress of playing with an injury for me would have been too much for him.
"Hopefully he'll have a clear shot at it, clear run at it this week and play some part in the game against Burnley."
