Hull City boss Phil Brown has reassured Geovanni and Nick Barmby that they still have a role to play at the KC Stadium this season.[LNB] Geovanni was dropped to the substitutes' bench for Monday's 2-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur as he strives to recapture his stunning early-season form.[LNB]The Brazilian was given a late run-out against Spurs, but Barmby, who has made just one Premier League appearance since the turn of the year, was left on the bench.[LNB]Brown has explained his reasoning behind leaving Geovanni and Barmby out against Spurs, and also revealed why Bernard Mendy started among the substitutes.[LNB]Mendy was originally in Brown's starting line-up, but was late arriving back from France, prompting Anthony Gardner to start, with Kamil Zayatte moved into midfield.[LNB]Energy and attitude"The team selection was about energy and attitude," said Brown in the Hull Daily Mail. "I was looking for a little bit more aggression.[LNB]"We thought Tottenham were concerned about our ability in the air and our size and height.[LNB]"Bernard had personal problems and only arrived back from Paris at about 7.50pm.[LNB]"There is plenty of time for Geovanni and Nick Barmby to play football this season."[LNB]
