Brown pleased with Negredo talks

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Hull City boss Phil Brown is hoping to tie up a £12million swoop for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo by Tuesday at the latest.[LNB] Brown is preparing to smash the club's transfer record to sign Negredo after confirming talks with Real have been ongoing for several weeks.[LNB]Negredo has also been heavily linked with a move to Italian outfit Roma, but Brown is optimistic of persuading the 23-year-old to head to the KC Stadium.[LNB]Having missed out on several targets already this summer, Brown is not getting carried away about his prospects of clinching the deal.[LNB]However, the Tigers chief feels the potential deal is a sign of the club's ambition and he has been pleased with the progress of talks so far.[LNB]"He will be an expensive signing for anybody," Brown told Sky Sports News.[LNB]"When you are going into the £12m brackets, and our record signing is £5m on Jimmy Bullard, it's a sign of intent.[LNB]"It's not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination, but the fact that we're sitting round a table with representatives from Real Madrid, and certainly a player from Real Madrid, shows the sign of intent from the chairman, and hopefully from the manager."[LNB]Brown added: "We're quite pleased with what we've done so far at our end.[LNB]"We're obviously hoping to tie up the loose ends at the Real Madrid end by the close of play on either Monday or Tuesday."[LNB]
